Hyper Browser ("the app") is an Android file manager published by GPD Research ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: the app has no server, we collect nothing, and everything the app touches stays either on your device or in your own Google Drive.
Information we collect
None. We operate no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. We have no ability to see your files, your file names, your Google account or your usage of the app.
Information the app accesses on your device
The app reads and writes files you point it at, in order to list, view, copy, move, delete and create them. This happens entirely on your device. The following is stored locally in the app's private preferences and never leaves the device:
- The folders you have selected, so the app reopens where you left off.
- Folder access grants you approved through Android's system picker.
- Your chosen theme.
- The email address of the Google account you connected, so the app can reconnect without asking again.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Google user data
If you connect a Google account, the app requests the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive scope. This scope is required because Hyper
Browser is a general-purpose file manager: to show your Drive next to your device storage it must
be able to list, read, create, rename, move and delete any file or folder in that Drive, including
content created before the app was installed. Narrower scopes such as drive.file only
grant access to files the app itself created and cannot support browsing.
With that access, the app does exactly and only the following, at your direction:
- Lists folders and files so they can be displayed in a pane.
- Downloads a file when you copy or move it from Drive to your device, or open it for viewing.
- Uploads a file when you copy or move it from your device to Drive.
- Creates folders when you ask it to.
- Deletes a file or folder when you ask it to, or when you move it and choose to remove the source.
All Drive requests are made directly from your device to Google's servers using Google's official API client and the OAuth token held on your device. Drive content is not routed through, copied to, or stored on any system operated by us. File content is held in memory or in a temporary file only for as long as a transfer takes.
Limited Use disclosure
Hyper Browser's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we do not transfer, sell, or share Google user data with third parties; we do not use it for advertising; we do not use it to build profiles; we do not allow humans to read it; and we do not use it to train machine-learning or AI models.
Sharing with third parties
We share your data with nobody, because we never receive it. The only external service the app communicates with is Google's Drive API, on your behalf and under your account. Files you choose to open in another app on your device are handed to that app by Android at your request, and are then governed by that app's own policy.
Revoking access
You can disconnect your Google account inside the app at any time, and you can revoke the app's Drive access entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access does not affect files already copied to your device.
Security
OAuth tokens are managed by Google Play services and stored in the app's private, sandboxed storage, which other apps cannot read. All communication with Google's API uses HTTPS. Because we hold no data ourselves, there is no server-side store of your information to breach.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Material changes affecting how Google user data is handled will be reflected here before they take effect in a released build.
